9-12th grade- Intro to Character Creation

Students will be learning about character creation with a focus on personal interests, identity, and storytelling. Students will be designing characters around a Dungeons & Dragons styled character sheet, and be provided with a variety of writing prompts to consider their character’s personality, personal aspirations, and background. Artists like Nick Cave are featured as an example of how characters can be used to represent a bigger personal narrative. Characters of world mythology, and costume tradition will also be explored.
