MEET THE ART MONSTER

My name is Mason Zabrucky! I am 23 years old and my pronouns are ITS/HIM.

My dad first gave me the incentive to draw seriously when we were watching Lord of the Rings together, I was about 5. Gandalf was standing off against the Balrog, I asked my dad to draw the giant flaming monster and his attempt was (intentionally) not accurate to the design. I took the pencil and drew it myself, then realized I could draw whatever I wanted- my drawing wasn’t much better but it felt good at the time!

As I came out of high school I wanted to go to an art college for animation, though when I chose my major I picked illustration instead! Then in my senior year I realized that I didn’t even like illustration that much! So my logical conclusion was to become an ART TEACHER, crazy right? Though unlike every other decision I made during my college career, I can say that I love teaching! and rocking a wicked beard.

A few of my favorite visual artists are H.R. Giger, Zdzisław Beksiński, Wayne Barlowe, and Brian Engh. I work traditionally and digitally- and I have experience making both traditional and stop motion animations! Recently I’ve been taking up writing, and one of my favorite writers is Wildbow, creator of the Parahumans webserial. All of my interests culminate in my love for Dungeons & Dragons, which is currently the focus of my extracurricular artistic practices.
